At Approx 0500AM crews from station 293 were dispatched to Homeville Road for a report of a Chemical Explosion. Upon arrival crews secured the scene and awaited the arrival of the Allegheny County Haz-Mat team. It was determined the homeowner was mixing pool chemicals when it created a violent reaction and explosion. The homeowner suffered some temp hearing loss but was otherwise uninjured. 08/11/2010 - Station 293 responded to 2 calls toady. Around 1500 station 293 was dispatched to assist the police with a high tension wire down. 293 Utility responded and assisted with traffic until Duquense Light arrived on scene. During the wire down call station 293 was also alerted to assist 171 (Homestead) with a lock out detail. Station 293 was cancelled before leaving the station. Station 293 dispatched to assist West Homestead Station 292 with a multiple alarm commercial structure fire. Crews on scene were met with heavy fire from a detail shop with extension to the above apartment building. The ACFM office is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
